Liverpool stratil titul v posledný deň, ale tréner už mal už vtedy vyhrané. Keď Klopp prišiel, chcel obrátiť “pochybovačov” na „veriacich“, pretože atmosféra na Anfielde bola maximálne priemerná. Priaznivci boli často tichí a snívali o „starých dobrých časoch“, žili minulosťou a jej úspechmi a v súčasnosti na triumf ani nepomýšľali. Liverpool stratil svoju identitu a vieru. Kop End stratil svoje kúzlo.
Štvrtý a rozhodujúci gól proti Barcelone bol svedectvom, akú ďalekú cestu Liverpool podstúpil: Trent Alexander-Arnold – tento génius dokázal rýchlym rohom ukázal, že Klopp sa nevzdal ani po porážke 3-0 na Camp Nou. Analytici zápasov Liverpoolu si všimli, že barcelonskí hráči zbytočne riešili a rozptyľovali sa, ak bol proti nim odpískaný voľný kop alebo roh. Klopp túto možnosť rozpoznal a zahrnul do plánu. Klopp nielenže opäť dosiahol v Liverpoole súťaživosť, ale opäť každého fascinoval. Liverpool je elitný klub, s väčšími príjmami, aké kedy mali. Prišli do bodu, kde si môžu vybrať, kam pôjdu. Nemusia sa predávať a nemajú to ani v úmysle. Plánujú sa rozvinúť ešte viac. „Tento tím nie je ešte dopísaná kniha. Znova pôjdeme do toho. Ľudia si užili túto jazdu s nami a máme v zálohe toho ešte oveľa viac, “povedal Klopp v rozhovore po zápase.
Klopp bol v posledných dňoch sezóny v nezávideniahodných pozíciách. Asi pred 17 rokmi, dve sezóny po sebe, keď bol manažérom Mainzu, prišiel o postup do Bundesligy v neuveriteľnej dráme, pričom FSV Mainz bol označený ako „Nezameniteľný“.
V príhovore pred fanúšikmi na Gutenbergovom námestí v centre mesta povedal: „Každý, kto nás odpísal, urobil vážnu chybu“. Nasledujúcu sezónu Mainz opäť skóroval.
„Nech sa stane čokoľvek, sme to, čo sme, pretože sme sa zomkli a všetci sme zohrali svoju úlohu. Teraz sme jeden Liverpool: mocný kolektív, ktorý sa snaží žiť v prítomnom okamihu a tešiť sa z neho. “(Napísané v poznámkach k programu pred posledným domácim zápasom oproti Wolves).
Skandovanie fanúšikov opäť rezonuje v celej Európe - hlasno, sebavedomo a s vierou! Liverpool je tu, aby zostal medzi elitou a vyzerá to, že je jediným klubom, ktorý si môže dovoliť vyzvať na súboj práve ManCity. A ak ich odpíšete, urobíte vážnu chybu, pretože ONI SA DO TOHO OPÄŤ PUSTIA!

…. still not enough! What more were they supposed to do? Magnificent season from ManCity and Liverpool alike. Only finished second to one of the best and most expensive squads in the history of the Premier League. You have to feel for Liverpool.
Liverpool lost the title on the last day, but the coach had already won. When Klopp arrived he wanted to turn “doubters into believers”, because the atmosphere at Anfield had become average at best. Supporters were often quiet and dreaming of the “good old times”, living in the past and not existing in the moment. Liverpool had lost their identity and belief. The Kop End had lost it’s magic.
The fourth and decisive goal against Barcelona was a testimony how far Liverpool has come: The Trent Alexander-Arnold genius quick corner showed that Klopp had not given up after the 3-0 defeat away at the Camp Nou. Liverpool’s match analysts had noticed that Barcelona’s players moaned and became distracted whenever a free-kick or corner was awarded against them. Klopp recognized the possibility and put it into a plan. In a speech in front of the supporters at the Gutenberg Square in the city centre he said “Anyone who writes us off, is making a serious mistake”. The next season Mainz went up.

The supporters songs are resonating across Europe again - loud, confident and with belief! Liverpool is here to stay amongst the elite and it looks like they’re the only club that can challenge this ManCity team. And if you write them off, you’re making a serious mistake as they WILL GO AGAIN!

There is this saying that when a foreign star comes to England if he can handle the intensity and physicality of the Premier league asking “if he can do it on a rainy night in Stoke?” And then comes Shaqiri who was transferred from Stoke to Liverpool and maybe the question should now be “Could a Stoke player do it on a mild night against Messi”? Yes he can.
