Dostoevsky vs. St. Augustine

Dostoevsky (in Zelenka - Karamazovi, 2008): "As soon as you truly renounce God, everything will be different. Morality will fall like the changing geological periods, and mankind will search for happiness here on earth. Man will win over nature with his will and reason, and understand that he is mortal, that he does not have a hope for resurrection. He will accept death, and accept it gladly. He will be God-like and everything will be allowed to him. And as soon as he is God, all laws will cease to have any effect. Everything will be allowed." St. Augustine (in Sedláček 2009): "Love God and everything will be allowed."
