Our heart pressure and pulse raises, adrenalin brings more glucose into our blood, we are more resistant to pain, drain our energetic reserves and sometimes have an euphoric feeling.
Good for our short-term performance, but in long-term scale it makes us more sensible to every disease (especially cardiovascular), can make our reactions more aggressive and irrational and after it we need more time to recover to original state.
It's not possible to get rid of stress, but what we can do is to limit it to an amount that will help us not harm us.
How to deal with stress?
A) Minimize contact with stressors
Most frequent stressors are conflicts - try to avoid them by not going into unproductive conflicts, always clear each other's expectations and build good relationships.
B) Don't interpret problems too negatively
This one is related also to positive thinking. Usually people cause stress to their selves by thinking too much about their problems and imagining the worst possible scenarios.
C) Practice and prepare for stressful situations
Preparation can spare you from a large amount of stress. Also by repeating the same situations extreme reaction of your body will decrease.
D) Have a balance in your life
To be happy you need to be successful in more areas in your life. There is no way how somebody who has fatal problems in school and personal life can be a role model. Person with psychical equilibrium supported by his family/friends with no serious problems in school/work has higher resistance on stress. Sport is also very important here - it cleans our body from negative effect of stress and raises our resistance on it.
