Dangerously subversive Trump

„There is no doubt President Trump is practically and morally responsible for having provoked the events of that day.“

In February 2021 Senate Republican minority leader Mitch McConnell said at the time. According to him, the demonstrators were directly motivated by the ex-president. „They did it because the most powerful man on the planet fed them lies because he was angry that he lost the election. It was a growing mass of conspiracy theories“, he added. This was said by a senior representative of the Republican Party, which nominated Donald Trump for the presidential election. Not an opposition member of the Democratic Party as everyone would expect. What was it about then? The former president began to spread the theory of a stolen election because he could not cope with the loss, a theory that the vote count in some states of the union was rigged. Like perhaps in Belarus, the Northern Korea or China  would be possible. But with the huge difference that, to the detriment of the incumbent president, who has the power in his hands, he controls the state's armed forces and oversees the operation of public institutions. That's like the Russian president losing the upcoming presidential election and accusing a non-existent political opposition of rigging it. Well, an abnormal matter, stupid as a beam. For example, Viktor Orbán secures his power through propaganda spread by state media. Slovakian prime minister Fico  won it by leaning towards the anti-system and extreme, anti-vaxerism and pro-russian positions. Both essentially by manipulating voters. The elections they win are certainly free, but hardly fair. However, both respect the results of the elections, just as PiS in Poland respected the defeat. But President Trump decided not to respect the results of the free and fair(!) election in November 2020, even to reverse their results by spreading delusions about "stolen elections", which resulted in an attack on Congress on January 6, 2021. Late last year, the Colorado Supreme Court declared former President Trump ineligible to run for president for the reasons described above, based on a provision of the US Constitution. The provision prohibits citizens who have engaged in rebellion or insurrection from holding office. Donald Trump appealed, believing that the US Supreme Court will overturn the Colorado decision because it is dominated by conservative justices, including three nominated by Trump himself.

His hope may turn out to be false. As the current president, Biden, said: "I'll leave it up to the court to decide. But he definitely supported the rebellion. There's no question about that. It's obvious. You all saw it." It remains to be hoped that the judges of the Supreme Court also saw it as the ex-president by his actions undermined the main pillar of democracy with a blatant attempt to reverse the results of the elections, which are the basic means of exercising power by the people. Therefore, the United States, as the cradle of democracy, must prevent similar attempts to dismantle it in the future.
