Tento filmík sa žánrovo radí do rovnakej kategórie ako námuž dobre známy Where eagles dare. Jediný rozdiel je v tom, že tu pôjdeo čisto americkú akciu a jej cieľom nie je za pár dní vyhrať celúdruhú svetovú vojnu, ale „iba“ ukradnúť Nemcom 16 miliónov dolárovv zlate. Maličkosť.
Správny vojak Kelly (Clint Eastwood) zajme nemeckéhoplukovníka, od ktorého zistí, že len niekoľko kilometrov za frontovou línioumajú Nemci kvantum zlatých tehličiek. Ako správny americký vlastenec sarozhodne, že ho náckom vezme... a prípadne sa trošku obohatí.
Najprv má trochu problémy prehovoriť seržanta (skvelý TellySavalas), no ruku na srdce, 16 miliónov dolárov je skutočne skvelým lákadlom.Chlapi z jeho čaty sú samozrejme všetci za, takže mu ostáva zabezpečiť užlen tankovú podporu. Zájde preto za Oddballom (Donald Sutherland), hipisáckymveliteľom troch Shermanov. A show sa môže začať...
Partia flákačov, ktorí sa nikdy do žiadnej akcie nehrnú,teraz odvážne a nebojácne prekročí frontovú líniu a smeruje priamo nanepriateľa. Za 16 miliónov by som sa stal patriotom možno aj ja... Jasné, nezaobíde sa to bez strát, no zaseo čo viac chlapov padne, o to väčší diel pripadne ostatným.
Uvidíme pár prestreliek, ktoré sú veľmi dobre zvládnuté, nopredsa len by som zapojil usilovnejšieho strihača a film skrátilo niekoľko hluchých pasáží, kde sa fakt nič nedeje. No keď sa už konečneniečo začne diať, stojí to za to. Efektný prepad nemeckej kolóny, radosťa následne sklamanie z mosta... ktorý im pred nosom vyhodia dovzduchu americké lietadlá (ak si dobre spomínam, P-47 Thunderbolty), objednávkanového mosta (Sixty feet of bridge I can get almost anywhere) či útok nanemeckých obrancov železničnej stanice (neviem, kto k tej scéne vybralpieseň „I’ve beenworking on the railroad“ no bol to génius).
Napokon sa dostaneme do mesta, kde sa poklad nachádza.S obrancami mesta si naši hrdinovia poradili vo výborne zvládnutejprestrelke, no čo je horšie, ešte vždy im stoja v ceste tri Tigre(zapamätajte si, že americkí vojaci nikdy nenatrafili na žiadny iný nemeckýtank ako Tiger, veď by to bolo pod ich úroveň). Čo viac si človek môže želať? Vynikajúca paródia na vojnovéfilmy, kto má chuť zaspomínať si a popustiť uzdu fantázii, môžem lenodporúčať... stačí pretočiť pár nudnejších scén uprostred filmu a je to.

When we fire it, it makes pretty pictures,scares the hell outta people! And we have a loudspeaker, when we go into battlewe play music, very loud. It kind of... calms us down.
