ithought i'd throw in one of japan's hip hop superstars DJ KRUSH onlycuz i remember seeing shawn j. period's name on the sleeve/insert. btw,besides supporting artists i really like, the only other reason i stillbuy cds/records is because one of my favorite pasttimes is rushing homeafter multiple purchases, throwing on the 1st cd that i touch in theshopping bag, reading the credits and shout outs and stories andstaring at the album artwork while the music plays. back to shawn j.--i first heard of him when he was in a group called DOWN SOUTH back in94 when they had a song on the radio SOUTHERN COMFORT off the LOST INBROOKLYN lp. soon afterward, he produced for numerous projects for BOOTCAMP CLIK, SKILLZ, ARTIFACTS, BUSH BABEES, BLACKSTAR.. i guess he's hada similar career path as hi-tek as far as messing with the rawkus guys,especially the likes of (would be) NATIVE TONGUES' MOS DEF. JUDGMENT NIGHT (1993)
dela soul was part of this great sondtrack that threw in rock & rapartists together. it features CYPRESS, HOUSE OF PAIN, RUN-DMC, ONYX,ICE-T, DEL, BIOHAZARD, MUDHONEY, TEENAGE FAN CLUB, PEARL JAM, SONICYOUTH, SLAYER, and a bunch more rockers and rappers. cop it if you'reinto that kind of thing. for me, most of these artists didn't seem sounusual cuz they were probably the current flavor or whatever. but idid find it strange to find SIR-MIX-A-LOT on this cd. it took me awhile, but i understood much later the effects of this seattle rep'spimpness and hustle. btw, i just learned that judg(e)ment can bespelled 2 ways..
