Cloud Nine
Anotheruncategorisable mixtape this one. Cloud Nine was inspired by thediscovery of UbuWeb, an online sound library of literary spoken-wordpoetry type material. The catalyst for it's creation was a visit to alocal hipster bar where a DJ was (poorly) dropping spoken samples andfilm grabs over beaty tunes. I used GarageBand software to throw it alltogether, firstly mixing a musical bed and then layering the spokenbits over the top. There's no obtuse theme but the use of Beat poetryand vintage tunes gives it a idealistic, trippy feel along with anoverall sense of naive hopelessness...or maybe that's just me.
