I think unless we call it pollution, which is what it is when emitted on a 20 gigaton-peryear scale, we won’t get action. I am perfectly happy for the definition of the word ‘pollutant’ to include “something that has potentially catastrophic effects on climate”.
If we call them emissions, then people will talk about “emissions rights” and go on about useless trading systems. The terms “pollution rights” sticks in the throat more. Like “murder permit”.

“Nazáver som si celú knihu prešiel ešte raz a zmenil takmer všetky výrazy “emisie”CO2 na “znečistenie” CO2. Domnievam sa, že kým toto nezačneme nazývať znečistením,čo sa pri množstvách 20 gigaton za rok inak nazvať nedá, nič sa nezmení. Úplnesa mi pozdáva nazvať niečo slovom “znečisťovateľ”, pričom je to “niečo, čo mápotenciálne katastrofický vplyv na podnebie”.
Akbudeme CO2 nazývať “emisie”, potom budú ľudia hovoriť o “právach na emisie” abudú pokračovať v nezmyselnom systéme obchodovania. Termín “právo na znečisťovanie”ide viac pod kožu. Niečo ako “povolenie vraždiť”.
Dajte imcentimeter a oni pôjdu kilometer.”
