Tom finished pumping his bicycle tireand get on. The roads were empty, he hardly met 2 cars in a row. Hestopped in the nearest flower shop to buy a carnation for her; healways had to smile when he remembered that in some countries, thisflower is used on the funeral events. He chose a nice pink one, justbecause they had no other color left. “But if you came tomorrow,”said the clerk, “we would have bigger choice of colors.” “Thankyou, but I need it now,” smiled Tom and left a nice tip to theclerk.
He grabbed his bike and continued hisroute. The route to his friend, for which was the carnation. When hepassed through the yard’s entrance door, he noticed a matchbox.“Strange,” whispered Tom, “Sally never leaves matches outsidethe house.”
After entering the house, he wasshocked by the darkness of the house. He didn’t think that Sally’smother would not be at home. “Come on man, she’s now an adult,”thought to himself. As he was reaching the staircase, he winced whenhearing a cat’s scream. Then a glass breaking could be heard.“Damned cat, she always scares a man to death.”
Walking towards Sally’s room, he sawa shimmering light coming out of her room. As always, he steppedneatly on the floor, just to see her surprised face. He liked thatexpression in her face, she was cute with it.
First, he only glanced through the slitbetween the door and the wall. Sally was looking at the photos of herand her childhood. From time to time, a quick smile showed upon herface, and disappeared as fast as appeared. An old camera was lyingnext to her; she probably found it with the pictures.
“Hey Sally!” “Oh, hi dad! Iexpected you! Come and sit here next to me!” “Browsing throughold memories, I see?” “Yes… you wouldn’t believe what Ifound. Here, look at this picture…”
Tom didn’t need more. His small girlhas grown up into a young lady. A lady with the girl inside her. “Ohmy, I almost forgot. I’ve got something for you.” He passed thepink carnation with a heartily smile. The heartily smile was returnedand followed by a warm hug. He couldn’t have asked for more in thatmoment.
